A quarter of older adults taking levothyroxine may be able to stop using it without harm, with rates even higher for those on lower doses, according to research from the Netherlands.
The study found that 26% of 370 participants aged 60 and over could discontinue the hormone while maintaining normal thyroid function throughout the year of follow up.
