Osteoporosis patients diagnosed by text then 'abandoned' by NHS, inquiry finds

People with osteoporosis are being diagnosed by text and then “forgotten” by the health service, a Parliamentary inquiry has found – resulting in poor patient outcomes, mounting pressure on NHS staff and "huge sums" of wasted money.

Some patients told MPs they received no scheduled follow-up after being told they had the condition, with others waiting years for bone scans.
