The parents of a baby boy who spent more than 500 days in hospital have paid tribute to the doctors and nurses who cared for him as they prepare for his first Christmas at home.

Phoebe and Callum Melly said Bertie’s happy personality is down to the “love and affection” he received from dedicated staff during his long hospital stay.
