PAs in anaesthesia training pause lifted, but college warns against rapid expansion

The Royal College of Anaesthetists has announced it will allow departments to resume recruiting physician assistants in anaesthesia following a two-year pause but warns against rapid expansion of the role.

The move follows the completion of safety reviews and the introduction of GMC regulation for the role, previously known as anaesthesia associates (AAs) but recently renamed as PAAs.
