Patients to be signposted to A&E by GPs at capacity when ‘necessary’, BMA says

The British Medical Association has told the government it will continue to advise GPs at capacity to signpost patients to emergency departments “when clinically appropriate and absolutely necessary” in the ongoing row over online access.

BMA general practitioners committee England (GPCE) chair Dr Katie Bramall warned health secretary Wes Streeting that the new rules are already leading to growing waiting lists.
