Quitting smoking aids recovery from other addictions, research suggests

A large US study suggests that quitting smoking cigarettes can help people recover from addictions to other substances such as alcohol or drugs.

Researchers found that those who stopped smoking had 42% greater odds of being in "sustained recovery" from their other addictions.
