Researchers may have found a method to halt the impact of antipsychotic drugs on blood glucose control, lowering the patient's risk of type 2 diabetes.
Many widely-prescribed antipsychotic medications block dopamine receptors in the brain and can have a similar effect on the dopamine D2 receptors in the pancreas, triggering impaired blood sugar control, known as dysglycemia.
