Researchers look at effects of different HRT combinations on cardiovascular disease risk

The health risks of various types of hormone replacement therapy have been assessed in a large observational study, which suggested a likely raised risk of heart attack and stroke with the synthetic hormone tibolone.

It also supported the known link between oral oestrogen-progestin therapy and heart disease and venous thromboembolism.1
