A senior doctor at Doncaster Royal Infirmary who raised concerns about bullying and harassment has been dismissed after more than a year of suspension, the trust has confirmed.
Dr Tim Noble, who served as medical director before his exclusion in September 2024, had made a complaint about what he describes as a "toxic culture" within Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (DBTH).
The BMA claims it is aware of “significant” bullying concerns and the loss of experienced senior staff due to poor culture in the organisation. The union called Dr Noble’s dismissal “unfair and disproportionate”.
However, in a letter sent to staff , Mark Bailey, interim chair of the board at the trust said the doctor would be let go “with immediate effect” and that the decision had been taken following “an exhaustive, multi-stage process in line with trust policies, NHS guidance and employment law”. He added that the process was “fair” and “carefully handled.”
