Older adults with a poor sense of smell could be at greater risk of developing coronary heart disease, according to findings from a large US study.
The findings add to emerging evidence that this “largely neglected sensory deficit” may predict the health of older adults beyond the “well-known associations” with neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease and dementia, said the authors.
