Some men overtested for prostate cancer by GPs whilst high-risk patients missed, research suggests

GPs may be testing the wrong men for prostate cancer, with a major study revealing that patients unlikely to benefit are being overtested whilst those at highest risk may be missing out.

A University of Oxford study of over 10 million men across England found that prostate specific antigen (PSA) testing increased five-fold between 2000 and 2018, with many patients tested more frequently than recommended.
