Streeting tells ‘lagging’ GPs to sort access as more patients use online systems

Health secretary Wes Streeting has told “lagging” GP practices to “get onboard” with providing online access – as figures revealed that online consultation requests have increased by half over the last year.

NHS England data found 6.5 million online patient requests were submitted to GPs in September 2025, up by almost 50% compared to the same month last year.
