Strike support strengthens as more than 1m appointments cancelled

Doctor support for strike action deepened last week with large numbers of consultants and trainees taking part in four days of pay protests, according to new data.

At least 24,375 doctors in training took part on the third day of the action, according to NHS England, which also confirmed expectations that the number of procedures and appointments cancelled because of strikes this year would pass one million.
