Prostate cancer treatment has been linked to higher rates of complications in the 12 years afterwards, in a US study.
The researchers, led by Dr Joseph Unger, biostatistician at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, said that given the uncertain benefit of prostate cancer treatment for most patients, these findings highlight the importance of patient counselling before screening and treatment.1
