Study links muscle quality to ultra-processed foods

People who consume more ultra-processed foods have higher levels of intramuscular fat in their thigh muscles, a study has found.

This finding, which was observed independently to calorie intake, may raise the risk of knee osteoarthritis, said Dr Zehra Akkaya, post-doctoral researcher at the University of California, San Francisco, and colleagues.1
