Tau positron emission tomography (PET) scans could have a “potential role” to play in detecting and staging Alzheimer’s disease, an international team of researchers has suggested.
Michael Schöll, professor of molecular medicine at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and associates wrote in JAMA1 that tau PET could act “as a biomarker for staging Alzheimer disease neuropathologic changes across the spectrum of the disease."
