Time pressures on doctors causing 'decline' in research, RCP says

A toolkit to help doctors make the case for doing research as part of their job has been launched by the Royal College of Physicians to tackle a “sharp decline” in clinical research in the NHS.

It has become harder for clinicians to participate in research, with a government-commissioned report in 2023 concluding that the NHS does not “systematically prioritise” research, the RCP warned.
