‘Time to put right’ failure to define PA role, says senior RCP figure

A failure of "national bodies" to define and maintain professional standards for physician associates (PAs) poses a patient safety risk and must be addressed now, says the chair of a Royal College of Physicians' working group, as it sets out 16 recommendations for the college.

A short life working group (SLWG) was set up following the RCP’s extraordinary general meeting on PAs in March, after which five motions were voted for by college fellows.
