Transcranial magnetic stimulation cost effective for severe depression in NHS, study finds

Transcranial magnetic stimulation is a cost-effective treatment option for severe depression and should be made widely available in the NHS, researchers have concluded.

An economic analysis comparing the treatment to usual care in specialist mental health services found it reduces depressive symptoms, eases pressures on informal carers and on NHS resources, and helps people get back to work.
