Two NHS trusts tighten controls on physician associates

Leaders at two neighbouring NHS trusts have imposed tighter restrictions on physician associates after discovering they had referred patients for tests using ionising radiation over 4 years.

An audit ordered by executives at the Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust found physician associates (PAs) had requested the investigations and also prescribed medication.
