UK trailing behind in global patient safety, says report

The UK is trailing behind countries such as Norway, Switzerland, Japan, Spain and Italy when it comes to patient safety, according to a new report.

There would have been 22,789 fewer deaths in the UK in 2021 if the country matched the rate of treatable mortality of Switzerland, the global state of patient safety 2025 study found.
